PARAMBIKULAM WILDLIFE SANCTUARY It is 48 km south of Palakkad (Palghat), stretching around the Parambikulam, Thunakadavu and Peruvaripallam dams and covers an area of 285 sq. km. adjacent to the Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. It sports elephant, bison, gaur, sloth bear, wild boar, sambar, chital and the occasional tiger and panther, as well as numerous crocodiles in the reservoirs. The sanctuary is open daily from 7 am to 6 pm and entry cost Rs.0.50 per person plus Rs.5 for night vehicle. There are also two watchtowers, one at Anappadi (8km from Thunakadavu) and another at Zunjam (5 km from Thunakadavu). The best access to the sanctuary is by bus from Pollachi (40 km from Coimbatore and 49 km from Palakkad Palghat). There are 4 buses in either direction between Pollachi and Parambikulam daily. Boating facilities are available at Parambikulam. Rooow boats can be hired at Thunakadavu.
