JHANSI SIGHTSEEING

 

Jhansi is situated 101 km. to the south of Gwalior. Jhansi Fort and Rani Mahal Museum : The fort was built in 1613 by Maharaja Bir Singh Deo of Orcha. There are excellent views from the ramparts. Close to the fort, the Rani Mahal was the palace of the Rani of Jhansi. It is now a museum with a large collection of sculptures.

GETTING THERE AND AWAY BUS Buses to Khajuraho leave from the railway station. Also from the bus stand there are buses to many other places including Gwalior, Shivpuri and Datia. TRAIN Jhansi is on the main Delhi/Agra/Bhopal/Bombay railway line with good rail connection. Other expresses connect Jhansi with Delhi, Agra, Gwalior, Bhopal, Indore and Bombay. There are also direct trains from Jhansi to Bangalore, Lucknow, Madras, Pune and Varanasi.
