Jabalpur is famous for the gorge on the Narmada River known as the Marble Rocks. Bazaar : The old bazaar area of Jabalpur is huge and full of typically Indian sights, sounds and goods for sale. The Rani Durgavati Museum, south of the bazaar, is also worth a visit. Madan Mahal : This Gond fortress is on the route to the Marble Rocks, perched on top of a huge boulder.



GETTING THERE AND AWAY AIR Jabalpur is served by the Bombay-based airline, Continental. There are flights between Jabalpur and Raipur, Bhopal, Indore and Bombay. BUS There are buses to Jabalpur from Allahabad, Khajuraho, Varanasi, Bhopal, Nagpur and other main centres. For overnight bus journeys private buses are better. Madhya Pradesh state transport buses are mostly in an advance state of decay. For Kanha National Park there are state transport buses to Kisli. There is one bus a day to Khajuraho. It is more comfortable to take the train to Satna from where there are regular buses to Khajuraho. TRAIN There are direct connections between Jabalpur and Satna, Varanasi and Bhopal. If heading for the Ajanta and Ellora caves, catch a train on the Bombay line to Bhusaval and take another train to Jalgaon. There are buses to the caves from there.
