BLEEDING OF THE NOSE AND GUMS
Nose bleeds
Causes:
Nosebleeds are
quite common in pregnancy because of hormonal changes. The
nosebleeds are usually short but can be heavy also.
Remedies:
- Do
not blow your nose too heavily.
- Try
to avoid explosive sneezes.
- If
you nose starts bleeding then press the side of your nose
together between your thumb and forefinger just below the
bony part of your nose for ten minutes. Repeat for further
ten minutes if this is unsuccessful.
Bleeding Gums
Causes:
Bleeding gums are caused due to
build-up of plaque on the teeth. During pregnancy hormonal
changes in your body can cause plaque to make the gums more
inflamed. They may become swollen and bleed more easily.
Remedies:
- Pay special
attention to cleaning your teeth.
- Avoid having
sugary drinks and food too often.
