Rishi Kapoor was born in 1952 to Raj and Krishna Kapoor. Raj Kapoor
introduced his son, Rishi Kapoor, in his renowned movie, Mera
Naam Joker. Rishi played the role of young Raj Kapoor in the movie
which won him a National Award. As a hero, his first film was
Bobby.
After
the stupendous success of Bobby, Rishi gave hits like Raffoo
Chakkar, Khel Khel Mein, Laila Majnu and Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin.
Sargam and Karz were his other magnificent hits, which made
him a household name in India. Rishi provided a launch pad to
a legion of fledgling heroines: Dimple (Bobby), Kajal Kiron
(Hum Kisise Kum Nahin), Shoma Anand (Barood), Bhavna (Naya Daur),
Jaya Prada (Sargam), Naseem (Kabhi Kabhie), Sonam (Vijay) and
Divya Bharti (Deewana).
Chintu,
as Rishi is fondly addressed, was always passionate about acting.
His bedroom mirror was his earliest confidante and he would
try out various expressions in front of it. The films for which
Rishi is still remembered are Coolie, Naseeb, Prem Rog, Amar
Akbar Anthony and Chandini. Rishi has worked with all leading
actresses of Bollywood right from Dimple Kapadia, Sri Devi,
Madhuri Dixit, Urmila Mantodkar and Tabu. Rishi has a huge cache
of hit songs to his credit and thrived as a top star for 25
years.
Rishi
Kapoor married Neetu Singh who has also worked with him in a
number of films before marriage. Rishi and Neetu have two children.
Presently Rishi enjoys his career as director and an actor.
His directorial debut was Aa Ab Laut Chalen featuring chocolate
hero Akshay Khanna and gorgeous Aishwarya Rai. Today, Rishi
occasionally lends sparkle to lacklustre fare like Raju Chacha
and Kucch To Hai; but a youth-centric industry can offer few
roles that do not waste this fine actor's talents.
