Amisha Patel

From Sanyukta, Seasons Correspondent.

Name?

Amisha Patel.

Why are we discussing her?
Because she is the latest young thing from "nowhere-land", who has come and made it big ( real time big ) in this industry of big bad wolves and not only managed to bag a big time film like 'kaho na pyar hia' as her debut and Rakesh Roshan as her mentor but even gone right ahead and created a niche for her- self ,in a film which was out and out a Hrithik launch pad!

Phew…..that's amazing,so far so good……… what next?

Well this bright new comer, who has proved her acting capabilities has in a short span got many a new project in her kitty.

Like?

She has 'hum aap ko aache lagne lage',opposite none other than her hit hero Hritik,'parwaana' with Ajay,,'kya yahi pyar hai' with mast guy Aftab,an untitled film with Bobby Deol and Salman Khan, one with Anil Kapoor-Karisma,and Sunny's next home production-deva.she also has Mahesh Bhatts next,to be directed by the young Tanuja Chandra.

That's like she has her hands full for the next two years at least?

You bet.

Where did this pretty thing come from,i mean what is her personal claim to fame, before she decided to become a part and parcel of the indian film industry?

To begin with, our friend is the grand-daughter of the famous barrister -Rajni Patel, who was the right hand man of the then prime minister, the late Mrs. Indira Gandhi.she is the daughter of industrailist Amit Patel who has quite a reputation in the share market.

Alright,so how did it all begin?
See,Amisha's father and Mr.Rakesh Roshan were school friends and Mr.Roshan who had seen Amisha grow into a beautiful young girl ,offered to launch her opposite his son.

Really……..when was this?

Almost seven years ago.

Any body in her position, would have jumped to this…….

True…….( and so did she,but later ).

So how come this thing took that long to materialise?

For the simple reason that our girl, who was very academically inclined, wanted to pursue her studies and did so.

Where?

Oh she went away to the tuffs university,in the usa,to get her self a degree.

In the mean time?

Mr.Roshan who had to move on in life and continue the launching process of his son Hrithik ( he couln't have waited all life could he now? ) went ahead and offered the role to Kareena who was also at that point of time trying to look for debut amterial for self.

And ?

Like they say, life has its own set methods and plans and there is something called destiny, things didn't go very smoothly between the Roshans and the Kapoors and the whole contract fell off ( luckily for Amisha ).

So?

God had planned it to be Amisha's debut and it was she who was destined to be Hritiks' first heroine ever and thats the way it happened.

What does Amisha have to say about this?

Well in Amisha's own words-"I think Rakesh uncles' desire and offer had been so heart felt that 'ghoom-phirke',the role landed back into my lap.I guess some things are simply meant to happen.

Didn't she have any reservations about the fact that the movie had already been started with some other actress?
No not at all.the fact that this film had earlier been offered to Amisha had not stopped the next person from taking up the role,so just because this person wasn't doing it,why should it stop Amisha from going right ahead?Plus someone or the other would be doing it anyways. These things are trivial and don't matter in the wake of other far more important things that go into selecting or rejecting a role……

Point noted…..so whats to be her next big release?

Oh she extremely excited about this period film -'gaddar', that she is doing opposite Sunny Deol. She thinks Sunny Deol is an excellent actor to work with and is gaining experience from this venture.According to her ,he ( sunny ) has a very pleasing soft personality and is very helpful to her.

What about her performance in the movie?
She plays a muslim girl in the 1940's ,against the back drop of partition.it's a beautiful film which takes her from a school girl to a wife to a mother .It's a completely performance oriented role and this being her second film, she feels vehemently that it's a challenging film and irrespective of the out come at the box-office, this is one film which she will cherish for ever, because it is very very special!

Any dream role?
Something on the lines of Chandni or a Lamhe, with the ace director Yash Chopra……….. well amen to that!
