Producer: Ram Gopal Varma
Director: Ram Gopal Varma
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Antara Mali and Ritesh Deshmukh
Abhi (Abhishek Bachchan) is an aspiring actor and Rewa (Antara Mali) a wannabe choreographer in the film. The plot revolves around Abhi, who will sell his soul to fulfill his dreams and aspirations, while Rewa doesn't want to compromise her principles and convictions in life. Abhi becomes a star overnight. Abhi wants to help Rewa but she is not willing to compromise and take his help. Abhi and Rewa walk out of each other?s lives. Abhi continues to churn out hits, while Rewa struggles to get work. Soon she gets an offer from a young director Diwakar (Ritesh Deshmukh), to choreograph a music video. Diwakar loves Rewa?s work. He falls in love with her. The music video is a hit. Abhi proposes to Rewa but Rewa still refuses to be a part of Abhi's life. Naach is a well-made film, but it couldn't create the impact that Rangeela did. It has too many unnecessary songs that slows the film and since the music is also not that of A R Rehman, the songs do not create the magic. Ramu was trying too hard to focus on Antara Mali but he has to realise that she does look awful at times and is not heroine material at all. Antra no doubt has a great body but thats not all. No doubt the songs and Antra revealing all will pull the front bench crowd but this is certainly not a film that the whole family would like to watch together. Abhishek Bachchan is the best of the lot. His performance is stunning especially in emotional and intense scenes. The cinematography is A-grade. Ritesh Deshmukh surprises with a serious and intense role. Overall not an impressive film.
