Tumsa Nahin Dekha

Director : Anurag Basu Producer : Mukesh Bhatt Music : Nadeem Shravan Lyrics : Sameer Starring : Emraan Hashmi, Dia Mirza

After giving the biggest hit of 2004, MURDER, Mahesh Bhatt is back again with Tumsa Nahi Dekha. The team, presenter Mahesh Bhatt, producer Mukesh Bhatt, director Anurag Bose and lead man Emraan Hashmi, had no doubt created history but this film definitely disappoints. The film is said to be inspired from the Hoyywood classic Pretty Woman served with a dash of the fairy tale Cinderella and Mahesh Bhatt speciality of giving it an Indianised touch. The story starts with Daksh [Emraan Hashmi] who is a perpetually drunk millionaire. He comes across a working class girl Jia [Dia Mirza], first at a bus stop and then shoplifting at a mall, and its love at first sight for Daksh. He subsequently discovers that Jia dances in a bar to earn a living. Unfortunately for Daksh and Jia, the timing of this romantic encounter is odd. Daksh is scheduled to marry a hi-society girl Anahita [Pooja Bharti], whom he detests. But if Daksh doesn't marry Anahita, he would not inherit the millions. Daksh has to choose between love and money. The story is as old as the hill but it does have a twist which is unusual and shocking at the same time. Somehow the writers have not given full justification and value to the supporting characters which is the loose end of the film. They have fully concentrated on the main characters of Dia and Emraan but have not developed the characters of Anupam Kher, Sharat Saxena and Surekha Sikri who are important part of the story. In a nutshell, the film suffers because of an archaic script and because of an uninspiring screenplay. Performance wise Emraan is an absolute delight. The actor emotes his part with complete precision and confidence. Dia handles the difficult part with gusto. She gives a very power packed performance and will take you by surprise. Rest of the cast lend able support. Nadeem-Shravan's music is a silver lining. The tunes are honey-sweet and the placement of songs in the enterprise is just perfect. On the whole the film might do well because of the lovely music and because of the lovely performance by Emraan and Dia.
