Bachchans back
are back in full form
The Bachchans are back in full
form. After exploring the depths of his career, Amitabh's
stars are shining just as bright as they used to do in the
Seventies and the Eighties. On the personal front, he is
regained his midas touch with the enormous success of 'Kaun
Banega Crorepati' on the small screen and 'Mohabbatein'
on the big screen.
Madame Tussaud's waxworks of London immortalised him by
unveiling his gaunt 6ft 2in wax figure alongside Elizabeth
Taylor and Mel Gibson, the only hindi film industry person
to ever receive such a distinction, and he is also now,
a much in demand as a 'Ramp Model' after he successfully
ramped down the catwalk for the hot shot designers Abu Jani
and Sandeep Khosla.
He is also experimenting with his roles and has just signed
V.R film's new film, which is written by Atish Kapadia wherein
he is playing a negative role! The film is based on the
hit Gujarati Play 'Aandhro Patto'(Blind
Fold). His wife Jaya has also signed a couple of
Big budget film's including Karan Johar's 'Kabhie
Khushi Kabhie Gham' and a few others. The couple
of plays in which she is performing the central character
like 'Maa retire hoti hai' and 'Dr Mukta' are sold out the
day which they are announced.
His
son Abhishek's career is also
shaping out well with more than half a dozen big budget
films in his kitty and his impending wedding with the sizzling
Karisma Kapoor will surely bring in more Khushi to the Bachchan
household.
His
Daughter Shweta is happily
married to Nikhil Nanda of the 2ooo crore Escorts company
and she has just delivered her second bundle of joy, a son.
Amitabh's company 'ABCL'
has recieved huge fundings from the current Big Bull Ketan
Parekh and with that funding Amitabh had paid off all his
companies liabilities except Doordarshan, to whom he owed
Rs. 20.31 crores. On Thursday, Bachchan presented a cheque
of Rs 9 crores sixty five lakhs to Prasar Bharati CEO Rajiva
Ratna Shah at a press conference and further promised to
return the rest of the outstanding dues in three instalments
next year during March, June and September. He said that
in lieu of the interest on his dues, Bachchan would participate
in Doordarshan's public interest programmes. At the same
conference he also announced that ABCL would be producing
three big films and that he is open to work for advertisements
for reputed firms. He also announced he had signed an annual
contract with the mega financial giant I.C.I.C.I. to work
as their Brand Ambassodar for Rs. Eight Crores!.
