Ajay Devgan, after graduation decided that he wanted to enter films. He was launched by Kuku Kohli in Phool Aur Kaante. The film was declared a super hit. For the first time the film industry reeled under shock because the film with a director and production house nobody had heard of had become a super hit while films hailing from the most prestigious banners like Yash Chopra (Lamhe) and Ramesh Sippy (Akayla) and top stars failed miserably at the box-office. Ajay Devgan became a star overnight.

Followed Jigar with Karisma Kapoor, Dhanwan with Karisma Kapoor and Manisha Koirala and Sangram with Ayesha Jhulka that did average business at the box-office. Then came along Shabnam Kapoor's Hulchul which changed his life. He met Kajol and both of them fell head over heels in love. Ajay launched his home production company called Devgan Entertainment And Software Ltd and signed Kajol for his home production Pyar To Hona Hi Tha. The film became a huge success at the box-office. Soon thereafter the couple got married.

Back to his career front, Ajay won the national award for the best actor for his superb performance in Mahesh Bhatt's Zakhm. Meanwhile Ajay Devgan branched out and launched in own production company, Devgan Software Ltd. And announced Hindustan Ki Kasam that marked father Veeru Devgan's debut as a director. He zeroed in on Manisha Koirala and Sushmita Sen to play the lead.

His role in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was highly appreciated and the movie tirned out to be a super hit. Then came along Company with Ram Gopal Verma which was a hit making him an actor to reckon with. On the personal front Ajay is the proud father of a baby girl.
