Aishwarya
wanted to be an architect and had taken admission the Science
stream in Mumbai's Jaihind College but destiny had something else
in store for her. Her perfectly chiseled face, porcelain skin
and emerald green eyes caught the fancy of photographers and she
started getting modeling assignments. She had become a craze in
the fashion world and she was so pressed for time that she ultimately
chose to drop out of the Rachna Sansad Institute of Architecture
after a year of enrolling in it.
This
green-blue eyed beauty stole ads for many prestigious firms; the
ones which brought her into the limelight were the Garden sari
and the Pepsi ad. Crowned Miss Femina India '94 runner up, she
was a hot favorite to win the miss world title, which she did
! Her beauty and charm made her India's darling.
After
having successfully completed her tenure as Miss World, Ash returned
to India. She was now open to film offers and Mani Ratnam's Iruvar
was the first film she signed down South. Rahul Rawail's Aur Pyar
Ho Gaya was the first Hindi film she agreed to do. Both the films
bombed at the box-office. However Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Him
Dil De Chuke Sanam gave her the much needed recognition.
She walked away with not just the Filmfare, Screen and Zee Premiere
awards but also IFFA and International Awards for the best actress.
She also won rave reviews for her performance as a rape victim
in Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000). In 2003 she bagged another
Filmfare award for best actress for the role of paro in Sanjay
Lela Bhansali's Devdas.
Her
relationship with Salman Khan had justify her traumatized and
depressed. However she never uttered a single word against the
bratty Khan and suffered silently for two years ultimately breaking
up with him completely and decalring atht she will never work
with Salman again.
