Son
of superstars Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan needed
no introduction when he decided to step into the film industry.
Abhishek Bachchan has done his high school in Switzerland. Didn't
finish studying Business Management in the United States since
he wanted to become an actor. His decision was welcome by father
Amitabh. He was launched by JP Dutta in Refugee opposite Kareena
Kapoor.
The film was expected to create history at the box-office as
it marked the debut of the son and daughter hailing from the
most reputed families of the film industry. Refugee didn't do
so good at the box office but the critics appreciated Abhishek
Bachchan's and Kareena Kapoor's performance in the film.
His next release Vashu Bhagnani's Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya also
didn't do well and flopped miserably at the box office. His
third release Raj Kanwar's Dhai Akshar Prem Ke with Aishwarya
Rai also flopped badly and thus Abhishek's career seemed to
be going nowhere. He was under constant pressure and his performance
had come under immense criticism.
Dad Amitabh consoled him and also warned him to play safe and
choose only meaningful roles. Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai also flopped
and after that it seemed Abhishek was doomed. He badly needed
a hit. However Dharmesh Darshan Haan Maine Bhi Pyar Kiya with
Karisma also flopped. Abhishek pinned his hopes on Sooraj Barjatya's
Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon with Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor
and Mumbai se Aaya Mera Dost. But unfortunately both these films
didn't do well at the box office. On the personal front also
Abhishek didn't score. His engagement with Karisma was called
off. Things look real gloomy for Abhishek.
