Wendell
Rodricks
This year Wendell presented a soft and serene line
of clothes. So there were lots of soft aqua blues, sand
beiges and muddy browns in his "Oceania" collection.
For those looking for the sexy look, Wendell presented
ultra short skirts and backless blouses. For the more
conscious there were kurtas and empire line over shirts.
Aparna
Chandra
The collection had a very summery feel-there were chanderis,
cottons and linens in lots of whites. The collection
was designed for the contemporary Indian woman who likes
to be simple, yet wants to make a statement and be noticed.
There were lots of off-white silver embellishment kurtas,
off stretch kurtas short pin stripe shirts and full-sleeved
shirts.
Shantanu
and Nikhil
The designer duo's collection was a tribute to Sikh
women. Women of this community are known to be strong-and
this was skillfully depicted through the duos colour
palette. Navy blue and grey were the primary colours
in this collection. Soft fabrics like silks, georgettes
and shifli, sprinkled with handloom polka-dotted zari,
combined with masculine structures over balloon pants,
churidars, flared shorts and the like. Chiffons, exaggerated
drapes, wrap styles and bias cut skirts added a gentle
touch to this collection.
Satya
Paul
With a collection called Madonna Meets Sita -- meant
to signify the marriage between the modern and the traditional
-- Satya Paul's son Puneet Nanda unveiled a collection
that was rich, deep and complete. The Satya Paul collection
incuded dresses in beiges with a very strong Indian
influence, full sequined choli-like tops, knee-length
kurtas, skirts with strappy dresses worn underneath.
Some of the underclothes had prints that looked like
paint had been splashed on. There were also digital
print saris and net saris and designs that Satya Paul
is best known for-a heavily embellished net sari with
a paint-splashed petticoat.
Manju
and Bobby Grover
The collection was all about raw sexy appeal. There
were bra tops and very short shorts among other garments.
The first set of clothes had a very naturally muted
colour palette. The next collection was bolder with
the use of black and lots of gold.
Anita
Dongre
The show started with lycra dresses adorned with gold
foil symbols. There were long sleeved t-shirts and gold
flock printed cotton Lycra dresses. From Lycra Anita
moved to silks. It was a youthful collection with touches
of Anita's style glamour.
