The Lakme India Fashion Week 2003, held in Mumbai from 18th July to 24 July was a great success and showcased a one-of-a-kind designer collection, unlike individual "couture" fashion shows. LIFW this year will continue to focus on the business of fashion with the main objective of creating trade opportunities between designers and trade-buyers. This year's theme was Water Colours and the week-long extravaganza of hues of varying colours, fashion and glamour ended on a high note.

In its fourth consecutive year, the Lakme India Fashion Week 2003 was held from 18th July to 24 July at the NCPA, Mumbai. Leading designers showcased their collections which were brought to life by 48 leading Indian Models. The models, working in three groups, will display the Prêt (ready-to-wear) and Diffusion (a line between ready-to-wear and couture) lines at the country's largest event of the fashion design industry. The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the apex body of Indian fashion, organises the fashion extravaganza every year to offer a platform to Indian fashion industry professionals for displaying their skills and market their creations thereby highlighting the Indian Fashion scenario to the world. This year the event has taken on a more "serious business" orientation and has focused on expanding the customer base and grow the Indian Fashion industry globally.
